Trish and I had the opportunity to participate in "Under The Table and Dreaming's" Handmade Ornament Series last week! We thought we would re-post our sweet ornaments here for you to see!!
We both have a small obsession with fabric and trims, and wanted to use them to create an adorable set of ornaments! So, today we would like to show you how to make these little guys...
Seriously...can't you just hear them saying...
"Rudolph? I think your cute."
" I'm cute! I'm cuuuuuuuute!"
So here is how to create your own little cuties..
**Supplies Needed...
1. Fabric for background {check your remnant bin!}
2. Paper mache ornament disc {these came from Michaels in the non-seasonal paper mache section!}
3. Fabric for reindeer {think outside the box!}
4. Trim for around disc {this is a pleated grosgrain ribbon that came from Hobby Lobby}
5. Red rick-rack
6.Glue gun and glue
7. Spray adhesive
8.Mini red pom pom-poms
9. Thin red ribbon
10. Pattern for reindeer { I used one from a Holiday Crafts magazine }
11. Red grosgrain medium width ribbon
Let's get started....
Cut the hanger off of the disc and use something to enlarge the hole at the top of the paper mache ornament { I used a lobster pick! }
Trace the disc onto the back of your fabric. You will need 4 circles to make both ornaments!
Now apply spray adhesive to the disc and attach the fabric to each side.
Trace your reindeer pattern onto the back of the second fabric. You will need to trace a left view and right view if you want the cuties to face each other!
Using your glue gun, attach a red mini pom-pom nose. Then attach a short piece of red ribbon for a scarf! When making your little girl reindeer, attach a sweet bow to her antlers!
Cut a piece of red rick-rack and "push" the ends into the hole at the top of the ornament. Secure with a little glue from your glue gun!
Now attach the ribbon trim around the disc with your glue gun to finish off the edges!
Attach the adorable red rick-rack to the center of the ribbon trim with your glue gun to complete the trim!
Finally tie a sweet bow at the top, around the rick-rack hanger!!
They are just so sweet together, you have to make a pair!!
Here is the back view...even that is adorable!! You could personalize it as well!!
She's just adorable...
and he's a handsome little fella..don't you think?
