Burlap Pillows for Fall... {a mini tutorial}

   With Thanksgiving in less than a week,we wanted
  to share one more little Fall goodie...

  Our Thankful and Blessings Pillows happen to be one of my favorite creations of ours!

 We thought we should tell you how to make a set for yourself or to pin for next year! I think it is so hard to find beautiful pillows for Fall that blend well with your everyday decor, but these little guys don't disappoint!

These pillows are a perfect addition to your Thanksgiving decor!

 We made these pillows a couple of years ago, so we don't have step by step pictures, but will try our best to tell you how we did them!

Supplies Needed:
 burlap, stencils, black,deep orange,and brown acrylic paint,sewing machine, and pillow inserts

Step One:  cut two rectangles of burlap the same size, depending on your pillow form.  If you did a 12" by 20" pillow, you should cut two rectangles that are 15" by 23".  Just add three inches to each side!

Step Two:  We used our Cricut to cut a leaf shaped stencil and then we stippled a couple onto the front of one piece of burlap. Let dry completely.

Step Three: Then we cut the wording out on our Cricut and stencilled that in next. Let dry completely.

Step Four:  Put the two burlap rectangles together, right sides facing each other.  Stitch up three sides starting and finishing about an inch and a half in (for fringe).

Step Five: Insert your pillow form and stitch the last side closed.

Step Six:  Start on one side and pull the threads out of the edge of the unfinished burlap, to create a fringe and then continue with all four sides.  That's It!

  5. Wow! Instant fringe! Do you use these inside? Burlap is great to look at but kinda scratchy, so I was wondering if this was more a porch kind of pillow?

  16. Very cute pillow, I'm working on a pillow right now that I'm making out of burlap. I just read that you can wash and dry burlap. I did and it comes out much softer and less smell. have you ever washed. Like the fringe on the edges too. Wishing you a Happy thanksgiving. Thanks so much for sharing at Sunday's Best!
