Fourth of July is right around the corner and I have begun to slowly finish some porch decor. First on my list is the Red Burlap Wreath...
To say that I LOVE burlap, would be an understatement!! I have a very old-fashioned front porch and the vintage and rustic texture of burlap just feels right....
I am by no means a great photographer and tutorials are not my thing, but here is what I did...
I simply wraped a styrofoam wreath form with red burlap (purchased at Hobby Lobby) . I cut a 3 inch wide by 3 yard strip using the method here ! This method is fabulous!!
This is where I fail miserably as a tutorial writer and photographer...I cut 4 strips of burlap, each 3 1/2 inches by 3 yards. I then used the cutting technique to gather the strips, making ruffles. I simply pulled the string in the middle, but did not remove it like you would to cut the burlap.
Next I started to simply wrap the wreath form from side to side, not going all the way around to the back. I used my glue gun to adhere the ends securely and to periodically adhere the ruffles down. This is where you just have to use your judgement as to how you want it to look!!
Continue wrapping and gluing, using all of your strips of ruffles. I then wired the entire Red Burlap Wreath to a cute grapevine wreath that I already had!!
I LOVE how this turned out!! I love even more that I will multi-purpose this wreath for Valentine's Day and perhaps Christmas...BONUS!!
For the rest of the porch, well here is a little sneak peek at the fabrics I have chosen for pillows..check back for a post on these and a few other ideas!!!
ENJOY!!!!

ReplyDeleteThis wreath is so very sweet! I was wondering about how much burlap did yo buy for this project?
ReplyDeleteHere from Tip Junkie..
Tara, I had 3 yards of burlap at home, so not knowing exactly how much I would need, I cut all my strips 3 yards long. With that being said, I have enough left over for plenty of other projects or another wreath. I think you could do it with 1 1/2 yards and increase the number of strips cut.(ie I cut 4 strips of 3 1/2 inches by 3 yards each for the ruffles, so you would need 8 strips of 3 1/2 inches by 1 1/2 yards! Hope this helps! :)
ReplyDeleteLove it! Thanks for sharing!
